Important Announcement

 Thank you for making my job so enjoyable for the past three months by being such motivated and hard-working students.

 I'll be putting a few field trip photos on Sunday since my daughter took the camera to her prom festivities.

Remember Monday is a short day.
8:50 to 10:30  for the morning class
10:30 to 12:40 for the afternoon class.

I went to VCC on Saturday, and on the office window I found this information. To know where to go on Monday, you need to have your CRN # (class number), which can be found on your report card and the registration paper you got on Wednesday. You can check this information when you go to school on Monday morning.

Morning Class
If your class number on the report card and registration paper is 62865 (LINC 5, Part 1(A) higher Part 1) go to classroom number 2227 in the old building.
If your class number on the report card and registration paper is 62925, go to classroom number 3551 in the old building.

Afternoon Class
If your class number on your report card and registration paper is 62867 (LINC 5 Part 1) go to classroom number 3551 in the old building.

If your class number on your report card and registration paper is 62926 (LINC 5 Part 2) go to classroom number 2752 in the old building.

National Aboriginal Day: June 21st, 2014

June 21st is National Aboriginal Day. There are 3 main groups of Aboriginal people in Canada: First Nations, Inuit and Métis. This year, National Aboriginal day is on the same day as the Summer Solstice. June 21st is the longest day in the year. There will be special events in most communities in B.C., and you can experience traditional music, dancing, crafts and cuisine.

 Father’s Day has been celebrated for a long time. Many countries in the world celebrate Father's Day. When is Father's Day your country? 

In Canada, Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. Many people say thank you to their fathers.Many children buy cards and gifts for their fathers. Some families go for lunch or dinner on Father's Day.

Teachers' Strike


If there is no agreement between the teachers and the government by Tuesday, the teachers will go on strike on Tuesday. That means tomorrow might be the last day of school for some students.

The government of BC said that it would not fund ESL classes at the colleges in BC. VCC will not be able to provide ESL classes from December 17th, 2014. Only LINC classes will continue running. That means that many students who are Canadian citizens will not be able to continue studying ESL at VCC and over 70 ESL teachers will lose their jobs.

There will be a rally on Tuesday, June 3rd at noon on the grassy area on Broadway at the campus entrance.
Please come and support over 70 ESL teachers and 3000 ESL students who will be affected by the decision of the Provincial government not to fund ESL classes in BC colleges.
